What We Publish:

E-Zine and Print Edition: Featuring articles, essays, recipes, creative writing, news journalism, poetry, biographies, lesson plans, and projects about black history, culture, and also highlight individuals and current events making and shaping the future.
Books, Kindle Books, and Audiobooks: Expanding on our short articles in the E-Zine and Print editions for both adult and child audiences.
YouTube Channel Content: Interviews, documentaries, cuisine, arts and craft tutorials, and educational music videos that bring black history, culture and the future to life.
Educational Materials: Resources for parents and educators to teach black history at home and in schools.
Citizen Science and Craft Projects: Opportunities for community involvement and scientific exploration.
Visual and Performing Arts: Showcasing the talents of artists who capture the essence of black history and its future.
Who Should Submit:
Parents: Share family stories and traditions, historical accounts, or creative works that reflect your family's black history. Make Black History not only relevant but also personal.
Educators: Submit lesson plans, educational articles, classroom activities, and success stories from your teaching experiences. Make Black History not only inspirational but also practical with tie-ins to other subjects!
Kids: We encourage young voices to contribute stories, artwork, videos, or projects that reflect their understanding and appreciation of black history - and make Black History begin today!
Submission Guidelines:
Format:
Written submissions (75 to 250 words, 250 words to 500 words, 500 to 1000 words, and book manuscripts) should be submitted in the body of an email to blackhorizonsjournal@gmailcom, or attached by PDF, .DOCX or Google Docs format. May include imbedded illustrations, diagrams and art. These illustrations may be requested in separate JPEG files if accepted.
Videos and music (under 1 minute, 1 to 5 minutes, and up to 8 minutes), submitted in MP3 and MP4 format.
Originl artworks and crafts, by JPEG.
Calligraphy and handwritten written submissions by JPEG.

All submissions are entered into our annual contest, with 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes for best submissions. Additionally, one participation winner will be chosen at random to receive a prize.
